London Fashion Week: Day 2.

Day 2 of LFW is complete. Christopher Raeburn, Dans La Vie and Jasper Conran all being the highlight shows of the day for me.

Not forgetting to mention a surprise appearance from Cara Delevingne in her pre-show attire - I quote from her, "I better go now because I look like shit," after a fan had to draw herself away due to hysterically breaking down in floods of tears. Cara was very flattered though, she gave the star-struck young girl a big hug - it was a touching moment.

I also witnessed the Scandinavian Movement Exhibition which was amazing, while simultaneously enjoying a champagne breakfast - I've never experienced being "tipsy" at 11am before. During the exhibition I spoke to a lot of designers and some of the stories behind the collections were magical. Palmer//Harding, Rodebjer and Phannatiq were just some of the designers showcasing their collections, these three in particular actually being my favourite.

I managed to speak briefly to Mark-Francis Vandelli from reality TV show Made in Chelsea. His only words were, "I'm wearing Valentino!"

Pixie Lott, Pixie and Peaches Geldoff, Jourdan Dunn and Mollie King were amongst others to also make an appearance today. Now, time for sleep, see you soon LFW day 3!

London Fashion Week: Day 1.

I attended the first day of London Fashion Week today with 1883 Magazine and what an amazing experience it was. I only managed to see two shows which were Apu Jan and Liz Black, both were amazing.

I also met Millie Mackintosh from Made In Chelsea, as well as other cast members. All in all it's been a great day, so much fashion - not forgetting free cocktails, champagne and cupcakes!

I got some really cool street style shots as well which I'm going to upload once Fashion Week is finished. Bring on day 2!

David Beckham H&M Campaign.

David Beckham has recently caught all of our attention in the new advert for Swedish retailer H&M, a short video filmed by Guy Ritchie.
The video shows Beckham bearing all as he runs frantically across gardens, jumps over hedges and even dives head first into a swimming pool - leaving him soaking wet wearing only his own "David Beckham" underwear.
Beckham has never looked in better shape as he promotes his Spring 2013 body wear collection. Check out the video here: (if you can handle it!) http://www.youtube.com/user/hennesandmauritz?v=il21FZu-IUY

Is Grunge Dead?

I haven't posted for the past week or so as my other commitments have been quite time demanding so I've been very busy, although today I've decided to post a fashion moment (alike the ones of Colin McDowell) I recently wrote, and I chose the grunge trend to focus on. Grunge has always influenced my own personal style and it's something that has always appealed to me most when looking through menswear collections and street style. Many people ask, is grunge dead? Personally I think it is more alive than ever in the 21st century and evolving in ways it never did in the 20th century Anyway, here goes...

'Grunge exploded during the early 90’s and became a popular trend that most rebellious teenagers aspired to be a part of. Unstyled hair cuts, oversized checked shirts, ripped denim, being rebellious against everything that was considered “adequate” or “right” – all of what were just some elements of what grunge was really about.

The 90’s was an anti-fashion decade, it was more acceptable than ever to dress as casual as you felt without judgement. The term ‘grunge’ originated as a genre of music despite being today , a term typically used in fashion. Bands such as Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Kurt Cobain rocked the look and were massive role models to the younger generation.

Marc Jacobs designed collections in the 90’s inspired by the trend, despite being criticised for his choice in doing this. It was during 1992 that he designed his first spring/summer 93 grunge inspired collection for Perry Ellis, which soon led to his dismissal. Most would say it was unfortunate although shortly after the dishevelled look had become mainstream; Jacobs came back with his own label in the fall of 1993. He did something he found interesting and was eventually hailed the “guru of grunge”. Jacobs had clearly nailed the look; three figure prices were instantly put on his designs.

The relationship between Johnny Depp and Kate Moss was one of the many highlights of the 90’s. They were noticed heavily for their laid back effortless style, both oozing sex appeal with a rockstar attitude. Sadly the relationship wasn’t long lived, and Kate was left heart broken, hooked on drugs and crying for years afterwards over the break up. Poor Kate – it’s a good thing she managed to pull herself out of it, still to this day standing as one of the worlds most successful supermodels.

The spring/summer 13 collection by Dries Van Noten shows the trend is still very much alive in the 21st Century. His designs show reference to checked patterns and the famous picture of Kurt Cobain thrashing at his guitar whilst wearing a floral printed dress on stage – one thing is for sure, he definitely made quite a statement.'

Cheap Monday Fall 13: Men's.

Finally, the Cheap Monday fall 13 collection has arrived! The highly anticipated show took place in Stockholm, Sweden earlier this week. The collection is titled "Artificial Grunge" and shows grunge through the eyes of those born into the 21st century - something much more different than the grunge we all saw in the early 90's when Marc Jacobs took his spin on it.

ACNE Accesories: Sunglasses.

I commonly get asked by my friends; if I could have anything (materialistic) I wanted, what would I ask for? The answer to that are the ACNE sunglasses, probably my favourite thing from anything ACNE have ever released in a collection. ACNE was founded in Stockholm, Sweden in 1996 and are known for their unique clean cut collections.

Statement Jackets.

My second post has been published for menswearstyle.co.uk, I decided to write about new season statement jackets. Have a read if you like..
