QASIMI AW13.

This Autumn/Winter 13 collection is probably one of the most eccentric of them all. Kalid Al Qasimi shows gothic beauty in its greatest form. Designers alike Qasimi have always caught my eye more so than any other, I love fearless experiment and heavy elements of surrealism. Great hair styling for this collection as well.

Hardy Amies AW13.

I'm in love with this collection, it's effective and takes sophisticated menswear fashion to a whole new level. Although the garments are simple they each show experimentation, he shows the guidelines to looking sharp and stylish. I would let Hardy Amies style me any day!

Jonathan Saunders AW13.

Here is the Autumn/Winter 13 collection by Jonathan Saunders, inspired by collage and gradient effects. Saunders showcases the collection by having his models hang around a large room with various coloured block furniture and collaged wall décor, which all contrasts well with the designs.

MENSWEARSTYLE.CO.UK

My first post for menswearstyle.co.uk was published this morning which I'm pretty chuffed about. Have a look if you like..

Bernhard Willhelm SS13.

Bernhard Willhelm’s summer/spring 13 collection is one of my favourite collections at the minute. As I look through the collection I feel as though I’m experiencing some form of acid trip – he introduces a kaleidoscope of colours, patterns and exotic prints.

Willhelm has been influenced by many things; African tribes, the cyber gothic generation, life-like mannequins and most of all surrealism at its most intense. All so different from one another but combined in a way that draws you into a dream world only the most vivid of imaginations could create.

Judging by the recent London Men’s Collections, menswear designers are experimenting more than ever – breaching into boundaries that may be seen as utterly bizarre. Out of his mind Willhelm may appear; it works, and it’s exciting.

What does this say for the future of menswear? It’s time to shine for the male generation – even now men are styling skirts better than the average woman could.

Born To Fail.

I really like this quote by Matthew Miller on his AW 13 collection.

"My generation has been brought up in a world where we are born to fail. I think as soon as you can accept your future, you can change it."

Marc Jacobs Stripped Down.. Literally.

Marc Jacobs seems to be exploring his playful side in the new gay issue of Man About Town. Lay in a pool of plastic multi coloured balls wearing nothing, Jacobs goes all out showing he is more than just a designer. What I felt from this issue was the celebration and indulgence into homosexuality in a sense of sophistication, appreciation and shows it isn't just two men having sex, there's so much more to it - I love it.

Statement Footwear.

Over the past couple of weeks I seem to have developed a slight obsession with footwear. Menswear shoes are evolving fast and have become in some cases, staple pieces for men's style. It's almost like we're experiencing a change in fashion history, eccentric footwear with even the simplest of clothing is now more acceptable than ever. I have chosen just a small section of some of the shoes that I like in particular...

Doc Marten classic collection brogue style shoes, £90.
Simple but eye catching, these will definitely make a statement.

Again... Doc Marten metallic effect brogue style shoes, £95 (now £45).
Adding edge to whatever you're wearing.

Underground stormer steel cap shoes, £96.
These will add a sharp effect to anything; plain, simple and sophisticated.

Zara Man patterned slipper style shoes, £69.99.
A strong element of culture is visible here, an interesting addition to an ethnic inspired style.

Nike AIR MAX trainers, £105.
Everyone should own at least one pair of trainers; and not just for running, but they are a great addition to a casual, quirky or playful style.

Topman, suede navy brogues, $114.95.
I've chosen here something for those who enjoy a laidback/casual style but still want a sharp look.

Balenciaga SS13.

The summer/spring 13 collection from Balenciaga (or I could say, Alexander Wang, as of recently due to him taking over as chief designer) screams sharp sophistication, clean edges and masculinity. Wang definitely shows the confident male species "how to dress" with these statement pieces. As clean as the collection is, the looseness of the blazer jackets and the bagginess of the trousers work well and subtly takes us back to the 20's decade.

#1 Model: Jake Cooper.

The first male model I have decided to write about is Jake Cooper. Recently gracing the cover of Boys By Girls Magazine (shot by Cecilie Harris), he has also featured in editorials for Wonderland Magazine, 1883 Magazine, 7th Man Magazine and many others. However, Jake being the face of Burberry is definitely his biggest achievement yet. His "bad boy" look is what I love most about him - especially the nose piercing..

Matthew Miller AW13.

I have decided this is my favourite collection from London Collections: Men. It holds everything that I look for when I'm browsing through collections. Firstly, the colour black - that ticks the first box. Secondly, the simplicity and the clean/sharp edges of the garments. Lastly, I'm liking the 'Born To Fail' print on some of the jumpers. Matthew Miller is a designer I'll definitely be looking out for more often in the future after witnessing this collection.

Christopher Kane AW13.

Christopher Kane's Autumn/Winter 13 collection was definitely a highlight from the London Collections: Men, and I'm pretty sure not just for me but for everyone who has witnessed this amazing collection. I love the subtle gothic element included and the simplicity of the garments.

Shaun Samson AW13.

The Autumn/Winter 13 collection by Shaun Sampson was one of my favourite shows. I love in particular his grunge references, the oversized knitwear and the dark colour palette he uses - it all works really well. Although it appears as quite a dishevelled look I think Sampson has added an element of sophistication to his collection, which definitely ticks all the boxes for me.

Favourite Male Covers Of 2012.

We've all started the new year and have recently said goodbye to 2012, a year that brought us all so much, especially when fashion is concerned. I was thinking today about some of my favourite fashion/style magazine covers of 2012 and I thought it would be a good idea to post about them on here. As it is a menswear fashion blog I'm going to stick to male covers, although my ultimate favourite cover of 2012 was actually a female, so I'm going to go off track a little and throw that one in. Anyway, here goes...

The first issue of Fucking Young! Magzine.

Boys By Girls Magazine.

David Beckham, the first male to be on the cover of ELLE Magazine.

Justin Bieber on the cover of V Magazine.

Andrew Garfield on the cover of i-D Magazine.

Charlotte Free on the cover of Wonderland Magazine.
I'm aware this is a female cover but it was definitely my favourite of 2012, I think Wonderland really captured her unique beauty in this cover/editorial.
